Dr. Javier Azúa-Romero publishes in the Biomedicines magazine

Analiza’s Operational Director of Anatomic Pathology, Dr Javier Azúa-Romeo MD, PhD, together with the team from the Department of Physiology at the University of Zaragoza, where he is Professor of Histology, have published a paper entitled «Melatonin Preserves Fluidity in Cell and Mitochondrial Membranes against Hepatic Ischemia–Reperfusion».

Biomedicines publishes high-quality articles that address the challenges of incorporating novel biologic agents or targeted strategies through identification, development and ultimately clinical use. Laboratory medicine research and comprehensive preclinical studies are within the scope of the journal. It has an impact factor of 4.9 and is ranked in the top quartile (Q1) of its field.

“We evaluated the in vivo effects of melatonin treatment on oxidative liver damage in an experimental model of ischaemia-reperfusion,» says Dr Azúa-Romeo, adding, «melatonin reduced the severity of morphological changes and protected against ischaemia-reperfusion-induced toxicity in vivo in the liver. Therefore, melatonin could be a candidate for the joint treatment of patients with hepatic vascular occlusion followed by reperfusion».

Having always been committed to scientific research and dissemination, Analiza would like to congratulate the authors for this important publication.
