Sputum collection for microbacterial study
If you're going to take a sputum sample, we recommend read carefully the following information before you begin. This test is used for the diagnosis of lung diseases caused by microbacteria, and requires obtain samples of good quality to ensure reliable results. To properly follow the indications is essential for the analysis to be valid and will not be necessary to repeat the test.

PROCEDURE

Use a sterile 100 ml wide-mouth jar with a screw cap (sold in pharmacies), one for each sample.
Collected 1 to 3 sputum samples, as directed by the physicianfor analysis in the laboratory.
The samples will be collected in 1, 2 or 3 different days, according to what has been requested by the doctor.
Specimens should be obtained first thing in the morning, after rinsing the mouth with waterwithout the use of toothbrush and fasting.
Coughing deeply from the lower respiratory tract (not saliva).
Each sample should be stored tightly closed and refrigerated until delivery.
